Liberals would change stripes on foot patrol

Print Article

Have you ever wondered why the majority of military personnel vote conservative and are not liberals?

I have my own thoughts on this. When you have walked thru the jungles of Vietnam wondering when all hell will break loose and death will surround you, or if you are on foot patrol in Afghanistan, praying you are not going to get shot, or if you are on vehicle patrol in Iraq, hoping you won’t hit an IED and get killed or have your legs blown off, it brings you down to reality.

These veterans then think of the simple basics, survival. They follow the same line of thinking when they get out of the military, the basic simple life. Get a job, support their family. They don’t have far-out liberal ideas. They don’t get involved in protests and riots. They are not looking for something for nothing, they are just everyday down to earth Americans. I have mentioned that if you take a lot of the far out liberals and send them on a jungle patrol in Vietnam, or send them to Iraq or Afghanistan, their view points would change.
