SPIRIT LAKE — The Priest River Lamanna High School track and field program had a successful showing at districts here May 11-12. Head coach Jared Hughes said, “PRLHS qualified 15 kids (11 boys and four girls) and we will bring two alternates, one for each relay in case of injury or illness. This is the biggest group we have taken since 2010 when we set a school record with 17 qualifiers.”

Pole vaulter Corbin Maltba set a new school record and won the district championship with a successful attempt of 14’6. His previous best had been l3’0. Enara Seiler qualified for states in four different events -- the 100m, 200m, 4x200m relay, and the high jump. Konner Durham qualified for states by winning the 110m hurdles despite a hip injury, said Hughes.

Overall, the Priest River boys team finished third and the girls team finished fifth. Hughes said, “The girls total of 36 points was a huge improvement from the three points last year and the most since 2014.”

This year’s crop of track and field athletes also made their marks on the PRLHS Top Ten All Time List, said Hughes.
