PRLHS harriers shine at Timberlake, Lewiston

LEWISTON — The Spartan cross country teams fared well last week, with the girls winning their first trophy of the season at Timberlake Oct. 5 and the boys placing fifth out of 26 teams from across the Northwest at Lewiston Oct. 7.

Head coach Lance Clark said, “This may have been the best performance in over 25 years from our Spartan Boys Cross Country Team.” He also noted that Cameron Parkes and Caleb Gleason moved into the 4th and 5th spots on the all time list at PRLHS, and Annika Rantala moved into 4th place on the all-time list.

Gleason finished first at Timberlake Oct. 5 with a time of 16:27.3, followed by second-place Parkes at 16:40.9 and seventh-place Slava Negrieiev at 17:47.2. Jordan Phillips finished in 18:34.8, Spencer Sedgwick 20:05.0, and Kyler Lord 21:00.4. Annika Rantala finished fourth at Timberlake Oct. 5 with a time of 21:52.2. Izzie Schmidt finished eighth in 22:25.8, Katelynn Marks 23:21.6, Amber Johnston 23:37.6, Sharnai Hogan 24:00.6, Julia Rantala 26:08.6, Karleigh Durham 26:17.8, Reinie Proctor 26:24.9, Paula Fillin 27:33.7.

Parkes took 14th place at the Inland Empire Challenge in Lewiston with a time of 16:57, followed by Gleason in 20th place at 17:19. Konner Durham finished in 18:18, Negrieiev 18:22, Phillips 19:38, Lord 20:58, Sedgwick 21:22. Annika Rantala finished 24th at Lewiston with a time of 21:31, followed by Marks 23:22, Hogan 23:22, Schmidt 24:29, Johnston 24:33, Julia Rantala 26:01, and Proctor 27:03.

Clark added, “We are looking forward to our District Competition coming up on October 19th hosted by Kellogg at the Pine Hurst Golf Course on the way to Kellogg starting at 2 p.m. for the girls and followed by the boys. Great job Spartans Cross Country Team. We are proud of you!”
