Regatta here Saturday

   PRIEST RIVER —Saturday September 29, 2012:  At 11 am Priest River will see a return of all of last years  rowing groups to the Head of  the Pend Oreille. Gonzaga University, Washington State University, Coeur d' Alene High School, Coeur d' Alene Rowing Club, Palouse Rowing Club, Spokane River Rowing Association and Nelson BC Rowing Club will have boats on the water.

   The response to the Regatta has been very positive resulting in 30-40 shells slated to participate.  Rowers will range from 14 to 70 years in age.  All classes of rowing will most likely race.  Both Sweep (one oar per person) and Sculling (two oars per person) rowing will be featured.  Race time is at 11 am with the Coeur d' Alene High School racing first.  Good viewing is available at Bonner Park West and the Priest River Yacht Club.

   The race is a 5K race starting at Thama Shores on the Pend Oreille River and finishing at the Priest River YC. View is best from the Priest River Yacht Club and Bonner Park West.  

   Regatta weekend will include two special events in addition to the 11 am head race:

   Friday, September 28, 2012:  Welcome Rowers BBQ and row-by at the Priest River Yacht Club.  The BBQ, from 5-8 pm, will feature Tri-tip and chicken as the entrée, with salads and desserts.  Tickets are $10 for 12 and older, $7 for under 12.  

   Saturday September 29, 2012:  POND (Pond Oreille Nosh and Drink) aka a taste of Priest River will be held at the Priest River Yacht Club Parking Lot.  Participants are excited to be participating and bring a variety of foods to sample.
