Priest Lake Nordic Club schedules free skiing lessons for West Bonner County schools elementary students

PRIEST LAKE - Tom Weitz of the Priest Lake Nordic Club said the group has a number of offerings for local winter sports enthusiasts to enjoy in the new year.

During free ski and snowshoe day at the Indian Creek unit of the Priest Lake State Park on Saturday, Jan. 6, the Nordic Club and State Park employees will supply ski equipment and snow shoes and give basic classic Nordic skiing instruction.

On Saturday, Feb. 3, the Nordic Club will host a winter ski picnic at the Reynolds Group Site. Also throughout the winter Nordic Club volunteers will groom the Hanna Flats trails for snow shoeing and classic Nordic Skiing and equipment availability and snow conditions warrant.

Last but not least, the group will once again hold a kids’ ski program, in which volunteers give elementary school children basic classic Nordic ski instruction on the Priest Lake Golf Course.

Idaho Hills Elementary:

Friday, Jan. 12 from 9:30-11:30 a.m.

Friday, Feb. 16 from 11:15 a.m. to 1:15 p.m.

Priest River Elementary:

Tues, Jan. 9 from 9:30-11:30 a.m.

Fri, Feb. 2 from 9:30-11:30 a.m.
