Priest Community Cares Run Oct. 6

PRIEST RIVER — Every 13 minutes a woman dies from Breast Cancer. You can do something about it by helping Priest Community Cares (PCC) in the fight against the disease by joining them for a 5K run on Saturday, Oct. 6 in Priest River. Race time is 9 a.m. and starts from the Priest River Elementary School located at 418 Harriet Street. The cost to register is $25 and the top three male and female finishers will receive awards.

Same day registration is available from 7:45-8:30 a.m. but does not guarantee a race shirt. Sponsorship for the race is still open and includes logos on the race shirts ($100) and/or mile marker signs ($50).

The idea for the run stemmed after a group of motivated women got together to do something special for the Priest River community.

“Our intent is simple. We want to raise awareness, help educate and generate funds to help members in our communities learn more about fighting breast cancer,” PCC co-founder Jill Cobb said.

All funds generated from the run will be used to provide reading material for a lending library at the Priest Lake Community Library, Priest River Community Library and the Priest River Medical Clinic. They will also be given to Heather’s House in Sandpoint to help those currently battling the horrible disease.

Camille Riley, Sandy Bradbury and Connie Troudt also helped to start Priest Community Cares.

For more information, to volunteer or register please call Connie Troudt at (208) 448-2393.
