One of the most beloved men of Priest River, Idaho, Gean Edward Mickelson passed away in his home Feb. 20, 2015.

Fumiko (Amy) Mingay was born on Oct. 13, 1943 in her home town of Wakamatsu, Kitakyushu shi, Japan. After high school she moved to Mojiko, Japan where in 1969, she met and fell in love with her husband Brad of 43 years. She is survived by Brad, brother Nobuhiru Karasu and his family in Wakamatsu, her two daughters, Michelle and Kayoko and, their families Eric, Jess and Brayden.
Roger Allen Ward, 73, of Kamiah, Idaho passed away Feb. 6, 2015 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Lewiston, Idaho.
Ruth Heath, 91, of Spokane, Wash., peacefully passed away Feb. 8, 2015, surrounded by her family. She was born Dec 8, 1923, in Tacoma, Wash., to Russell and Rose Bell. In 1924 the family moved to Spokane where Ruth lived the majority of her life.
Eugene Louis Schetter, 75, a resident of Priest River, Idaho for 41 years, died Jan. 22, 2015 in Newport, Wash.
Rachel C. Cary, 96 years old, passed away Jan.17, 2015 at Tri-State Hospital in Clarkston, Wash., with family at her side.
Henry Esmond Bergdorf was born Sept. 30, 1916 at Cutbank, Mont., the second child of Henry and Esther Bergdorf. In 1923 they moved to Highwood where his father ran the grain elevator. Henry Esmond had fond memories of Montana. He and his brother, Charles, rode their ponies, shot Jack rabbits for dinner, and worked at neighboring ranches as soon as they were big enough.
Phillip D. Quinn, 84, of Spokane, Wash., passed away Jan. 9, 2015 in Spokane,Wash. Phillip was born in Priest River, Idaho on Sept. 26, 1930 to Edward H. Quinn and Goldie Mace. Phillip grew up surrounded by nature, family and friends on the Priest River.

Albert Leroy “Chub” Peterson, 79, resident of Oldtown, Idaho passed away on Jan. 2, 2015 at the North Idaho Advanced Care Hospital in Post Falls. Private family services have been held.
Danny Sheridan of Usk, Wash., passed away peacefully at home on Dec. 30, 2014. He was born Oct. 16, 1945 to Charlotte (Holmgren) and Bill Sheridan in Spokane, Wash. He grew up in the Cusick area and attended high school in Priest River. He was a medic during the Vietnam Conflict and served honorably 20 years in the US Navy retiring at the rank of Master Chief.
Ralph DeLorio Jr. 70, of Priest River, Idaho passed away peacefully with his family by his side Jan. 1, 2015. Ralph was born March 26, 1944 in Syracuse, N.Y .to Ralph and Carmella DeLorio, He was survived by his wife Bonnie (Mercier) DeLorio, and three sons Angelo(Yvonne) of Montana, Antonio of Montana, and Aldo of Washington.
Patricia Ann McCoy “Patty,” 64, of Priest River, Idaho passed away Dec. 26, 2014. Born on April 18, 1950, in Kellogg, Idaho., she was daughter to the late Harry and Mary Eustice. Patty graduated from Kellogg High School and studied to be an architect.

Tammie Lee Watson, 55, passed away on Nov. 15, 2014 at her home in Sagle, Idaho. A celebration of her life was held on Nov. 22 at the Edgemere Grange Hall in Vay.
Doug Blair passed away Nov. 19, 2014 of cancer. He was raised in Downers Grove, Ill. After a few years in college, Doug served in the US Army during the Vietnam war between 1967-68.

Robert (Bob) Alfred McArthur of Oldtown, Idaho passed away on Sept. 25, 2014 at the age of 85. Bob was a lifelong resident of the area, residing in Newport and Oldtown almost his entire life. Bob lived a very active life and was always busy with work, building projects, and the outdoor recreation offered in the Northwest. The extent of his friendships seemed endless. He knew people from the Cascades to the Bitterroots and from the Canadian Border to the Blue Mountains. He always had a story to tell, ranging in topics from family and Newport history, to hunting and fishing (both of which were lifelong passions), to sharing his expertise in building and fixing things.

Lila W. Wheeler (Parsons) passed away peacefully at the age of 81 on Oct. 8, 2014 at Hospice House in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. She was born Lila Wilmina Lawrence on July 8, 1933 in Spokane, Wash., to William Lawrence and Vivian Lawrence. Lila was a truly talented artist. If she could see it, she could paint it.
Evelyn Loraine Reed passed away peacefully at the Newport Long Term Care on Oct 4, 2014 at the age of 87. Born Evelyn Loraine Easley to Leonard and Mable “Peggy” (Giem) Easley on Aug 1, 1927 in Newport, Wash. She attended public school in Newport graduating in 1945 from Newport High School.

Priest River lost one of its biggest boosters and arguably its hardest working community volunteer when Diane Mercer gave up her life to lung cancer at Holy Family Hospital in Spokane, Wash., on Aug. 17, 2014.
Wanda Belle (Gilmore) Gumaer…. Passed away Aug. 5, 2014 with her granddaughter, Heather “Gumaer” Leffler at her side. She leaves this life joining numerous other family members and friends.
Our mother Ruth Helene was born on Oak Street in Red Wing, Minn., on Sept. 15, 1922 to Norwegian descendants Julius and Alpha (Sunde) Lokkesmoe. She was strong and beautiful like an oak in our family. Perhaps being sandwiched between two mischievous brothers, Marvin (deceased) and Robert (now in Calif.), fortified her! In a first grade play she dressed the part of a nurse and determined to one day be that person. She did—completing her RN training at Swedish Hospital in Minneapolis in 1945. Her forty year nursing career carried her primarily to Deaconess Hospital in Spokane, Wash., and Newport Community Hospital in Newport, Wash.
Roger Guy Conant, Priest River, Idaho, died July 30, 2014. Born in Skowhegan, Maine, on Sept. 4, 1937, Roger was the oldest child of Thornton F. Conant Sr. & Ruth Heald Conant. Roger excelled at Skowhegan High School as a scholar, graduating third in his class, football player, & president of the student body. Roger became a responsible leader early in life as his father died when Roger was 20 & he had the responsibility to help his mother & younger siblings.
Constance Delia “Connie” Hoskins Wells, 90, of Ponderay, Idaho passed into the arms of Jesus on July 30, 2014 at home with her family and precious pets Charlie and Lucy at her side.
Starting on August 1, the city has a new ordinance going into affect. It all started with a questionnaire mailed out to all residents of Priest River regarding cats and whether they had any annoying cats in their neighborhood.

Don Francis Jubon was born at Swedish Hospital in Seattle, Washington, on July 31, 1948, to Frank and Ann Jubon (Dzuban).
Richard James “Dick” Dukart, 89, passed away on July, 9, 2014 at Valley Vista Care Center in Sandpoint, Idaho. He was born June 12, 1925 to Frank and Christine Dukart in Dickenson, N.D. Around 1935 the family moved to Yakima, Wash. While in high school he started working for Snyder-Mailing Canning Co. building fruit boxes in the box yard after school. He joined the Navy on June 9, 1943 and served in the South Pacific aboard the USS Sullivans as a GM2c. He received an Honorable Discharge on March 13, 1946 and returned to Yakima and resumed work in the canning industry. He met Alice Baker-Swofford, a WWII widow. They were married in 1947 and he adopted her young son, Michael. They had three more children, Christine, Becky, and Debbie. The cannery he worked at had entered into the freezing business and was known as Birdseye-Snyder, later to become Birdseye Frozen Foods. In 1953 he was promoted to Foreman and transferred to Hillsboro, Ore. In 1960 he was transferred to Walla Walla, Wash. In 1976 he was promoted again and became Plant Manager of a new Plant in Bettendorf, Iowa. He and his wife moved to Davenport, Iowa until 1981, at which time he retired from General Foods after 42 years of service. He and his wife then moved back to Spokane, Wash., to be closer to their children. They built a house at Priest Lake and lived there until 1999 when they built a house in Post Falls, Idaho in order the be closer to medical facilities. Richard enjoyed hunting, fishing and an avid golfer. He was a very good wood worker and enjoyed wood carving.
Roberta Arlene Kreitman Pringle passed away on July 3, 2014 in Spokane, Wash. She was born on April 11, 1937 to Bert Myron and Frances Wehenkel Kreitman in Ainsworth, NE. She was the youngest of their three children.
